'Euphoria' by Sterran Dance | Flexus Dance Collective

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a couple of tickets to see Flexus’ recent work: Euphoria. I went in there ridden with excitement because every year, Flexus blow me away with their amazing work. However, just when I thought they couldn’t get any better, they smashed it out of the park once again.

It was an evening of immense talent. From the live music from Inclusic to the energetic performances delivered by Flexus Youth and Sterran Dance - I was in awe of every performer and left the theatre feeling thrilled and exhilarated. It was a beautiful experience to witness the arts come together after the pandemic to celebrate a near return to normality - bringing a sense of togetherness.

Euphoria choreographed by Katy Sterran in collaboration with composer, Ni Singh, was an unforgettable performance that was brimming with energy and power. It was a performance that had significant relevance to today and the audience were able to relate to the emotions that the dancers were projecting so powerfully. There was never a moment my eyes weren’t locked on the stage; I was completely mesmerised throughout. There were even times I felt like I wanted to jump on the stage and dance with them and celebrate all they have successfully achieved during the pandemic!

Sterran successfully delivered an epic performance that explores the mental and physical impacts of the isolation that was forced upon us during the pandemic. The emotion poured out of each performer and it was evident that the dancers had a personal connection to each movement that reflected their journey to euphoria. This was a performance that was like no other. Sterran Dance and the whole Flexus Dance Collective are a true representation of power. As a member of the audience, it was evident that Sterran, Singh and all of the dancers put their heart and soul into the performance. I felt truly honoured to be able to witness such beauty.

To every single dancer, musician and choreographer - I am truly inspired by your determination to keep thriving in the arts during the pandemic and I am absolutely exploding with excitement to see what you create next!
