'Three Women' by Lisa Kaddeo - Book Review

A book for all of the women who are not heard. For all the women who want to scream their stories from the rooftops, but are silenced. Ladies, this one is for you.

'Three Women' is an honest, eye opening and inspirational non-fiction text that explores the journey's of three women's lives. Full of high hopes, intense desires and unspoken thoughts, Lisa Taddeo introduces her readers to some of the harsh realities these three women endured sexually, emotionally and mentally.

Maggie is a teenage girl who is suffering the after effects of being in a relationship with her married teacher when she was in high school.

Sloane is in an open marriage, where she partakes in threesomes whilst also sleeping with other men to satisfy her husband - as long as he knows about it.

Lina is in a marriage with a man who ignores her and refuses to show any kind of affection.

All of the women's stories are different. Yet, they all share one common theme - men. In these stories, men were the sole reason and cause for the deep frustrations that the three women experienced. The men in these stories had an unexplainable way of manipulating them, as well as

having a significant amount of control over their livelihood and happiness.

Honestly, I loved this book. I loved everything about it. I was skeptical about it at first as I'm not as interested in non-fiction texts than I am fiction; But the way this was written felt like fiction (if that makes sense?). Taddeo has cleverly portrayed the stories of these three women in a way that is completely captivating - I couldn't stop reading!

Although I have to admit, there were times where I felt frustrated. Frustrated at the dominance men had over each woman without them even realising it. Frustrated at how these stories reflect women's vulnerabilities. Frustrated at how the blame is always pointed at the woman. Why? Why? Why?

If you are passionate about equality like me, then this book will definitely release the anger and frustrations that have been building up inside of you. Gender inequality is real, and something needs to change. NOW.

This book is addictive, shocking and undoubtedly jaw-clenching as Taddeo has expressed nothing but pure honesty, taking her readers on the journey with her.

I highly recommend this read if you are interested in this kind of topic! It is definitely eye-opening on how women are treated unfairly in comparison to men, and it is evident throughout this text that this is an issue that females are still confronting today.
